Seminar: Hvem er bedst til udviklingsbistand? (København)

In our integrated world, decisions made by rich countries about their own policies and behaviour have repercussions for people in developing nations. The Commitment to Development Index (CDI), published by the Center for Global Development, ranks 27 of the world’s richest countries on their dedication to policies that benefit people living in poorer nations. This year, Denmark has reclaimed the number one spot as the world’s most committed country to development.

This seminar will present the 2017 Index and give room for discussion on which purposes this, and similar indexes, serve for development and with what consequences. Can these push underperforming donors in the right direction or do they just oversimplify the complexity of development? It will also zoom in on the special position of Denmark and explore how a top ranking is possible in a time of cutbacks and domestic spending of aid.
