Pakistans regering opretter 39 beskyttede kvindehuse

ISLAMABAD, 28 Arpil, 2009: The Pakistani Government has decided to establish 39 more Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Centres for Women in various districts for the rehabilitation of those who are victims of violence and provide temporary shelter, psychological counselling, free medical and legal aid to them.

According to the Ministry for Women Development here Saturday, funds allocation to establish the centres would be made in the budget of financial year 2009-10 as project proposals are being finalized by the Planning Division.

The Ministry already established 25 Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Centres for Women at district level during the current financial year for providing facilities including shelter and rehabilitation of women, who are victims of violence at local level. A total nineteen projects were undertaken for the welfare of women, the sources said.

A number of other projects are also under process for consideration by the CDWP for the welfare of women including launching of Information Training for Elected Lady Representatives-Phase-II (A five year plan).

Out of the 39 Women Centres, thirty-three would be established in various districts of all the four provinces and remaining six would be established in AJK and Northern Areas.

A special programme for the Womens Empowerment Development Programme through Education, Skill Training and Livestock Micro Finance Livestock income generating scheme by United Social Welfare Society (USWS) would be launched at Rahim Yar Khan.
