About Globelics

Since 2002, the research network GLOBELICS (Global Network for Economics of Learning, Innovation, and Competence Building Systems) has contributed to strengthen research capacity for innovation and economic development in Africa and a number of other regions.

GLOBELICS is based at Aalborg University and is supported among others by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA). The objectives are to increase the quality of research, support the knowledge infrastructure in developing countries and to give young researchers from developing countries access to global research resources, e.g. by offering participation in PhD academies with researchers within the areas of innovation and development.

GLOBELICS has regional chapters in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Mediterranean and Europe (AfricaLics, AsiaLics, LaLics, MEDAlics and EuroLics,), and there are national chapters in China (CICLICS) and India (IndiaLics). The website of Globelics (www.globelics.org) has about 2,000 registered users.

GLOBELICS has important experiences which may inspire the activities of Danish universities within the DANIDA program Building Stronger Universities in Developing Countries and cooperation with researchers in developing countries at large.

Margrethe Holm Andersen will tell about achievements and challenges in the development of GLOBELICS with particular emphasis on the experiences from building the African network, which has received a special support from SIDA since 2013.
