The EU has always had relations with the many and varied countries of Asia. Yet, the Europe-Asia relationship is often described as the weak link in the global power triangle with the United States, and the EU’s relationship with the region appears to suffer from a lack of unified purpose and vision.

The seminar deals with how the EU relates to Asia, how it should respond to the changing global order, and what vision the EU should develop for its relationship with Asia as a region and with its emerging powers such as India and China. Is a new era of EU-Asia relations possible and what might it look like?
