Patrick Twomey joined the Irish Human Rights Network in 2003 having served as Co-Director of the University of Nottingham, Human Rights Law Centre (HRLC) 1997-2003.

Patrick Twomey joined the Irish Human Rights Network in 2003 having served as Co-Director of the University of Nottingham, Human Rights Law Centre (HRLC) 1997-2003.

He was called to the Irish bar in 1990 and has lectured in law at Durham, Liverpool and Nottingham Universities as well as at a range of human rights summer schools.

While at HRLC he directed a number of programmes, including Independent Monitoring of Human Rights in Russia (1999-2003) and Ukraine Criminal Justice System Reform(1998-2003). He is Co-Editor of the Human Rights Law Review and member of the editorial board of the European Journal of Migration and Law.

He acts as advisor on human rights based approaches for a range of actors, including the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, other UN agencies, the European Commission and bi-lateral development funders.

This seminar is part of the FORDI process on developing a common framework for the documentation of HRBA-based programmes and projects and besides this open seminar, Patrick will also be joining the FORDI documentation-working group on this issue in the afternoon.
