Approaching the Abyss? Global Banking ‘after’ the Crisis

How could a few clicks on the computer bring the world economy to its knees and can it happen again?

In this DIIS DOX & Talks event we look at risk management in the wake of the financial crisis and the recklessness of the financial sector.

We will discuss if the picture has fundamentally changed and look at international institutions and national governments room to manoeuvre in order to reframe the current dysfunctional economic system.

We will screen the gripping documentary Master of the Universe (2013) that shows us the dark side and illusory nature of investment banking.

Ismail Ertürk, a leading expert in banking, will discuss where international banking is heading. Anastasia Nesvetailova will join him in contextualizing and discussing the movie.

DOX & Talks is Danish Institute for International Studies new documentary initiative. In the resent years documentaries that focus on international relations have affected the way we look at current conflicts, human rights issues, politics and development.

DOX & Talks gives you the possibility to get a strong visual insight into worlds that are not accessible to the broader public; our experts give you further food for thought.

Step into the darkness, grab some popcorn and be provoked to see the world from a different perspective!
