Climate Change and Migration: Debunking the Myths
The public discourse on the relationships between climate change and migration has tended to be characterized by more heat than light. Narratives about ‘climate refugees’ have often been inspired by political agendas and popular fears, rather than actual data about trends and knowledge about the nature of migration.
In this seminar Professor Richard Black of SOAS, University of London will discuss the findings of a recent global review of the links between environmental change and migration. The discussions will consider the implications for more evidence-based development and climate policies.
Richard Black was involved in the report “Foresight: Migration and Global Environmental Change” published by The Government Office for Science in London, UK.
