Om forskningen

The thesis analyzes empirically the political economy determinants of trade and development as well as income inequality.

All the chapters have practical policy implications as the issues of trade; development and income inequality remain relevant in the current political economy discourse especially for developing countries.

Chapter 1 reiterates the relevance of economic co-operation for African trade.

Chapter 2 shows that complementing preferential market access with sufficient level of aid would promote development in developing countries.

Chapter 3 provides robust empirical evidence that the impositions of economic sanctions have deleterious effects on income distribution in targeted states.

Finally, chapter 4 shows that most types of aid are ineffective in affecting income distribution in developing countries.
