“Dr. Jørgen Hylleberg has made significant contributions to Kasetsart University in many different areas over many years. In 1980 and 1999 he accepted the invitation of the Faculty of Fisheries to lecture for both bachelor and master degree students.

He was also a permanent lecturer for marine biology courses in Phuket Marine Biological Center since 1979, where the majority of students from Department of Marine Science, Faculty of Fisheries, have participated.

In 1991 he established Tropical Marine Mollusc Programme (TMMP) sponsored by DANIDA. A joint research programme consisting of 30 institutions of 22 countries, including the Faculty of Fisheries, Thailand. This programme has played an important role for supporting research and education of Thai students.

Recognizing his keen devotion to enhance research and educational opportunity for the students of the university together with his excellent work in marine science research and development, the Kasetsart University Council, in its meeting on 22nd February 2010, has taken a unanimous action to award Dr. Jørgen Hylleberg the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Marine Science)”.
