Den første internationale aftale om retten til land, fiskeri og skovens ressourcer er måske på vej. CFS (Komitéen for verdens fødevaresikkerhed) mødes den 11. maj for at diskutere nye globale retningslinjer på området.
If approved by the CFS, the guidelines (retningslinjer) will make history as the first ever international agreement on governance (forvaltning) of land tenure (besiddelse) and managing access to fisheries and forest resources.
The guidelines have been developed over the past three years in a far-reaching and inclusive consultation and negotiation process involving governments as well as civil society organizations, nonprofits, farmers’ associations and the private sector.
The Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of National Food Security outline principles and practices that governments and other actors can refer to when administering the right to land, fisheries and forests tenure (besiddelse) in order to serve the best interests of their populations and promote food security and sustainble (bæredygtig) development.
The guidelines will be voluntary, but by voting to endorse (støtte) them CFS member countries will have sent a strong public signal regarding their commitment (forpligtelse) to adhering to them.
CFS is the leading international forum for discussions on global food security and nutrition policy issues by governments, UN agencies, civil society groups, the private sector and other stakeholders.
