CRIC seminar: Har hyper-aktive sociale medier haft politisk betydning i Syrien?
From an information black-hole Syria has turned into one of the biggest producers of user-generated content.
Has this overwhelming amount of grassroots initiatives, websites, independent news outlets, produced powerful enough counter-narratives? Can these media initiatives counterbalance regime or extremist groups' propaganda?
What are the pros and cons of such a crowded alternative media system in a heated political situation such as contemporary Syria?
