Flygtede journalister ser på flygtningekrisen indefra
Motivated by the good experience from our first “In the Same Boat symposium in November 2015”, Crossing Borders is organizing the second public symposium of In the Same Boat series in Copenhagen.
The overall aim of this event is to contribute to a better understanding of the refugee crisis through the eyes of exiled journalists and international experts.
We believe that enabling exiled media workers to share their stories and the stories of the refugees, which they are part of, will help build bridges with the Danish public.
Specifically, we want, this time, to give the microphone to the exiled journalists to share their own experiences and perspectives about the present refugee challenges and possible solutions.
The symposium will comprise keynote speeches including personal stories from the exiled journalists, inputs from international experts and a panel debate.
Among the keynote speakers is Dr. Mariano A. Davies, Chair of Crossing Borders Advisory Board, photographer/author of American Pictures Jacob Holdt and Ms. Michala Clante Bendixen, Chairperson, Refugee Welcome to Denmark.
The other speakers include journalists from Kenya, Syria, Iraq, Kurdistan and Thailand.
The keynote speakers and panel members will give a nuanced picture of the refugee crisis from their respective angles: exiled journalists, human rights activist, civil society, social workers and integration experts.
The output will include a special edition of Crossing Borders magazine, photo reportage and documentary video, all of which will contribute toward better understanding of and solution to the refugee crisis.
We look forward to seeing you each and all
