Somdeep Sen argues:

What is the real legacy of the Oslo Accords?

While once hailed as the first institutional basis of Palestinian statehood, the Accords were soon deemed as ineffective and critically contributing to the socio-economic emaciation (udtværede tilstand) of the Palestinian populace (befolkning).

That said, I claim that the legacy of the Oslo Accords go far beyond the material deprivation it instigated. Instead its primary fallacy lies in the tragically paradoxical conditions it imposes on Palestinian politics.

It compels Palestinian factions to perform statehood through the (disingenuous) institutional frameworks of the Palestinian Authority (PA) and, in lieu of a non-existing state, compels them to ‘fight’ for a sovereign and territorially inviolable Palestine.

Then, one could conclude that post-Oslo Palestinian politics is one that oscillates (bevæger sig) between the aspiration of the real and the performance of non-existent.
