During the event IOM will present and share the information materials produced under the framework of the project including: a one hour film, “My Name is”, which portraits six Unaccompanied Minors (UAMs) residing on the EU territory; a leaflet introducing the project and the problematic at EU level and in Denmark; as well as a manual of good practices on reception, protection and treatment of UAMs.
The project is funded by DG Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship Programme and has been implemented since May 2009 by IOM Brussels together with five other IOM missions, namely IOM Vienna, Warsaw, Prague, Bucharest and Sofia.
The main purpose is to raise awareness on UAMs rights and on the rights they can have access to while staying in the reception structures on the EU territory and to fight against child disappearances from the EU reception system.
UAMs have been actively involved in the design of this awareness-raising campaign and the target audience of the movie is peer UAMs in Europe. In addition to the six EU countries directly involved in the project, the awareness-raising campaign will cover all 27 EU members.
The film realized on UAMs’ rights has been subtitled in 14 languages and dubbed in 12 others, covering all EU languages as well as selected languages from UAMs countries of origin.
