TID: Onsdag den 11. december kl. 18-21

STED: Global Platform, Fælledvej 12, 2200 København N.

KVINFO, FORDI – Forum for Rights and Development Denmark and KIT – Royal Tropical Institute (Netherlands) hereby invites you to an evening seminar where the updated online guide on gender and rights will be introduced.

This evening seminar is held in connection to the re-launch of the online Gender and Rights Guide, which will be presented in an updated version at this event.

The past two decades have witnessed the rise of human rights based approaches in development practice, mainly among non-governmental organisations. But what do rights actually mean and how do they get put into practice rather than remaining as abstract concepts?

The guide looks at how rights get operationalized in the practice of non-governmental organisations and reflect on rights practice from the point of view of the social relations of gender.

Sandra Quintero and Maitrayee Mukhopadhyay from the Royal Tropical Institute will give a summary and introduction of the main chapters of the guide during the first hour and a half and then open a plenary for questions and discussions.

The seminar will introduce participants the following main issues:
* Gender as a social relation.
* Operationalizing rights.
* Gender rights and organisations.

REGISTRATION: by email to [email protected] (participation is free)
