Background

Following another tumultuous year for Europe with severe crises surrounding its borders, coordinated terror attacks from the ISIS (Islamisk Stat) hitting European capitals and with refugee numbers spiraled through 2015, the European countries’ foreign policy and their ability to coordinate and cooperate is seriously being put to the test. In this complex setting, the European national governments are reminded of the importance – and difficulty – of shaping a coherent (sammenhængende) and long-term common foreign policy. The Danish Foreign Policy Society, the European Council on Foreign Relations and the Danish Institute for International Studies invites you to the 2016 presentation of the European Foreign Policy Scorecard and a debate on the state of affairs in European foreign policy. The discussion will take points from the recently published “Foreign Policy Scorecard 2016”, by the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), providing a systematic assessment of Europe’s foreign policy performance of the past year. Additional info about the ECFR annual Scorecard assessment can be found at:http://www.ecfr.eu/scorecard/2015
