Job: International Director

ActionAid Denmark/Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke (MS) is part of the international federation, ActionAid. We have a special focus on two of the biggest challenges of our time: democracy and the climate crisis. In collaboration with young activists, local organizations and social movements, we create change in more than 70 countries worldwide.

Our new strategy, A Decade of Activism, has clear ambitions for becoming a leading global organization in supporting social movements and youth activism. Now we are looking for an international director who believes in the strategy, has love for the values and who can deliver on plans and visions.

You will be the leader of five team leaders who together run AADK’s international work. Here you must exercise and contribute to good management with a sharp eye for prioritization. One of the key priorities in the cluster is the expansion and diversifying of our funding of the international work, where you will be working with team leaders and fundraising focal points to deliver on specific goals.

In addition, you are part of the Senior Leadership Team with two other directors and the Secretary General, where great emphasis is placed on a shared sense of mission, support and openness about the work of leadership.
 

Your profile

• Significant management experience – ideally including leading team leaders or managers
• A results-oriented management style that can create momentum for the strategy’s goals
• Ability to create a clear framework and communicate about decisions and mandates in line with the Federation’s Feminist Leadership Principles
• Strong experience with institutional fundraising, success in developing and executing business plans and fundraising
• Understanding of politics, strategic communication, campaigns and advocacy
• Commitment to AADK’s values and strategy, and especially knowledge of civil society role in supporting social change through activism and movement work
• Experience in positioning and profiling organizations and efforts in the outside world

We offer:

• An 8-year employment with no maximum working hours however with flexible working hours, so that a healthy balance is created between private, family and work life
• Time off between Christmas and New Year and the possibility of working from home.
• Salary and terms of employment based on the agreement between the MS and the AC organizations, which includes a company pension agreement, a supplement for fixed-term employment and a senior management supplement.
• Part of MS’ leadership community with annual management seminars as well as participation in an internal leadership development program
