Job: IWGIA is looking for a Donor Relations Manager and Fundraiser with great drive and commitment



Do you have solid experience with obtaining and managing funding from private foundations and institutional donors? Do you have strong networks and are you able to spot opportunities and new markets for fundraising? And are you eager to support the rights of some of the most world?  

If yes, perhaps you are our new Donor Relations Manager and Fundraiser.  

IWGIA has ambitious goals to increase our support to Indigenous Peoples’ rights. As part of this we must diversify and increase our funding. As Donor Relations Manager and Fundraiser, you are key to making this happen, by taking the lead on relationship building, donor reporting and compliance and fundraising.  

Your primary tasks:

Your tasks as Donor Relations Manager and Fundraiser are to: 

  • Coordinate IWGIA’s fundraising and donor relations work, including the implementation of the fundraising strategy.
  • Drive our fundraising efforts through spotting and assessing new opportunities and markets for fundraising.
  • Coordinate proposal writing in close collaboration with the relevant thematic advisor(s). 
  • Carry out quality assurance of proposal writing and donor reporting and compliance.
  • Provide other support as needed to your colleagues’ fundraising work. 
  • Maintain and build on our internal systems for adequate and timely donor reporting and the evaluation of success rates.
  • Analyse our programme development and related donor priorities.
  • Organise meetings with donors related to the status of implementation of our ongoing projects together with the management & finance team, as well as with relevant advisors. 

You as the candidate:

You are ideal for the job if you: 

  • Have a successful track record of fundraising from private foundations and institutional donors such as the EU and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 
  • Already have a large network among donors and understand who would be relevant to support IWGIA’s human rights work and our core mission.   
  • Have experience with maintaining and building internal systems to track successes and results. 
  • Are an excellent facilitator and coordinator of internal strategic and organisational processes.  
  • Are a good team player, while also able to take things forward yourself.  
  • Are systematic and structured and have excellent communications skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Speak and write English fluently. Danish and Spanish are an advantage. 
  • Have previous experience from a development or human rights organisation.
  • Have at least five years’ relevant working experience after your university degree.

You will report directly to IWGIA’s Head of Finance & Operations. 

Working hours are 37 hours a week, including ½ an hour for lunch. IWGIA follows the state’s salary levels. 

We can offer a 2-year employment contract with the possibility of extension.

Work location will be at Prinsessegade 29 B, 3rd floor, 1422 Copenhagen. IWGIA does not cover the cost to relocate.
