The Monitor (Uganda) notes that senior World Bank procurement specialist, Rogati Kayani, said at a workshop on Tuesday that there should be multiple and constant auditing of all Ugandan government departments to deter influence peddling with procurement procedures.
Regular audits would save the government of millions of money lost through flawed procurement procedures, he said.
Kayani led a team of experts that studied the 2004 Country Procurement Assessment Report for Uganda and produced a series of recommendations for its implementation.
The workshop, held at the Speke Resort Munyonyo, was reviewing the recommendations of the report.
