Kursus: Lær at forstå og bruge “Theories of Change”

For a while now, the new Buzz in the development sector has been “Theory of Change”. Donors, Funds and Development actors increasingly inform their strategic planning by this way of planning according to long-term change projections and thorough contextual analysis.

The development sector has very much embraced the idea of “Theories of Change” (ToC). But what are they and why  invest time in learning new ways of planning and evaluation if it’s not going to make much difference? This new course will provide some answers these questions!

The course aims to provide participants with a solid understanding of what Theories of Change are and include; how they complement other processes for planning and evaluation; how they support more rigorous critical reflection of the success of our efforts and our contributions to change and, most importantly how involve partners in these processes.

The course is grounded in solid reality and will hopefully enable you to think differently about your/our roles and contributions in the development process.

Course objectives and learning outcomes

For participants receiving and reporting on funds received under the Danida RAM Planning and Reporting framework, the course will offer participants insights about how using ToC will enable them to plan and report more effectively in relation to these standards.

At the end of the course, participants will:

  • Be able to describe what Theories of Change involve and the rationale for using them.
  • Be able to identify how and when ToCs should be developed and how they inform and complement other planning and M&E tools.
  • Have been presented with some of the tools and processes that are used in relation to developing and  using Theories of Change.
  • Have discussed how they plan for applying the learning, and what further support and/or resources they might need.
