A 300-member Protestant church in Algeria has been looted and burnt down by Islamist. An apartment block where the small church worships in the city of Tizi Ouzou some 60 miles (100km) east of the Algerian capital Algiers was ransacked and set ablaze last weekend by a group of anti-Christian rioters, who had a free pass through police checkpoints.
The pastor of the local church, Mustapha Krireche, said worshippers had to flee the temple as the rioters advanced, according to El Watan, an Algerian daily. The paper also published smouldering pile of pulpits and desks that had been brought outside for destruction.
