Nu bliver Vietnam et “rigt” u-land

The World Bank and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) are expected to formally upgrade Vietnam’s status to that of a middle-income country during a two-day meeting in Hanoi this week.

Nevertheless, foreign investors say, that Vietnam – celebrated as a new Asian Tiger two decades ago – has lagged behind its neighbors and needs further reforms in order to catch up.

Meanwhile, international donors Wednesday pledged official development assistance totaling 7,9 billion US dollar for Vietnam next year, down from 8,06 billion this year.

Vietnam er på vej ud som dansk partnerland i udviklingsbistanden, idet landet regnes som for velstående og godt kørende til at fortsætte bistanden. Ikke desto mindre befinder nogle af de bedst fungerende danske bistandsprojekter og -programmer sig i det sydøstasiatiske land.
