In Focus: What is happening in Korea? Two days after the parliamentary elections in South Korea on 11 April a failed missile test was launched in North Korea as part of the week-long celebrations to commemorate the 100th birthday of former president Kim Il Song.
The celebrations also included the first official speach by Kim Il Song’s son and heir to the position as leader of the nation, Kim Jong-Un.
