Fourteen leading African finance and education ministers Sunday appealed to the World Bank and other donors to replenish the Education for All Fast-Track Initiative (FTI), which faces an immediate funding shortfall of 1,2 billion US dollar through the end of 2010.
Meanwhile, International Monetary Fund Director for Africa Antoinette Sayeh said Saturday, that growth in Sub-Saharan Africa has slowed to around 1,5 percent this year, only a quarter of the robust pace recorded in recent years, putting poverty reduction in the region at risk.
