Job: DanChurchAid (DCA) seeks a Country Director DCA-NCA Joint Program Myanmar

DanChurchAid (DCA) and Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) will implement a Joint Country Program in Myanmar from Jan. 2017. We are looking for a charismatic, visionary and accountable leader who is motivated to support developments in Myanmar to lead this work.

Will you motivate focus on participation issues, natural resource management, gender rights, land rights, climate change, DRR, humanitarian response, mine action/mine risk education and advocacy activities? Do you have management experience motivating results with a multi-cultural staff? Can you fundraise? Do you know program & project cycle management? Do you have considerable experience in strengthening cooperation with partners, donors, and sister agencies?  Do you have experience working with the private sector? Areas of responsibility:

• Overall responsibility for management of a joint program including personnel, fundraising, program portfolio, communication work and financial management of budgets, with an annual turnover of 5-7 mio. USD.
• Meet DCA-NCA organizational performance benchmarks and related deadlines.
• Financial compliance with donor requirements.
• Proactive communication on results with HQ constituencies in Denmark and Norway.
• Communicate with DCA-NCA headquarters on relevant policies, strategies, and admin. Issues.
• Liaise with institutions, forums, donors, UN Clusters and DCA/NCA resource persons
• Advocacy campaigns within ACT Alliance.
• Develop partnerships with private sector companies.  
• Identify new donors and maintain donor relationships e.g. Europaid/ECHO/UNICEF.
• Facilitate and develop this new joint organisation including establishing a joint identity and culture.

 
We are looking for:

• 5-7 years of management experience in the aid sector in complex and dynamic environments including management of staff and organizational changes.
• Knowledge of the Asian political, cultural, and economic sphere, and relevant work there.
• Experience in working with a gender equity and rights based approach.
• Strong negotiation skills, diplomatic tact and ability to nurture relations
• Ability to identify with and practice DCA key management values: be respectful, participatory, strategic and vision driven, efficient and accountable.
• Master's degree in social science or another related field, work experience within development or humanitarian response.
• Proven experience with programme/project cycle management and implement guidelines from different donors.
• Commitment to a long-term development process.
• Ability to guide and motivate a multi-cultural team as they work with new methods and terminology.
• Good communication skills, fluency in English – oral as well as written. Knowledge of Danish or Norwegian required.
• Ability to cope with a big thriving, traffic-filled city where daily logistics are challenging.
  We offer:
  A three-year contract. Start date Feb. 1, 2017, though earlier if possible. Terms are according to Handbook for DCA expatriate personnel, Family postings and salary ranging from DKK 33,000 to 40,000 depending on level of experience.
