Communication Coordinator/Press Officer
Do you have a sharp pen in Danish and English? Do you thrive when you have to work fast with a press release but also with developing our communication efforts over time? And do you have solid experience with social media as well as conventional media?
If yes, perhaps you are IWGIA’s new communications coordinator and press officer.
IWGIA has adopted a new strategic direction which includes a strong focus on communication and fundrais- ing. We are seeking a communications coordinator/press officer who is able to further develop our commu- nication strategically, combine it with fundraising efforts and produce daily communication outputs of high standards.
Tasks
Your tasks as our Communications Coordinator and Press Officer are to:
Develop IWGIA’s communication strategically, monitor progress and drive our day to day communica- tion forward
Coordinate our communications and publications work in a small team
Maintain and further develop IWGIA’s webpage
Write and edit articles, opinions pieces, press releases etc in Danish and in English in close collabora- tion with relevant advisors and the Director
Develop our relations with key media in the Nordic countries and globally
Produce online and offline material that shows who IWGIA is and what we do
Produce engaging social media content that will attract more followers and systematically test and develop fundraising options as part of this.
The candidate
You are ideal to the job if you:
Have a proven record of generating press coverage and has a strong network among journalists in
Denmark and globally
Are able to design creative social media content including short videos (explainers)
Have experience with engaging specific target groups online and with planning digital fundraising campaigns
Have experience with editing content in Joomla or other similar Content Management Systems
Are fluent in Danish and English, and preferably also in Spanish
Have a degree in journalism, communication or similar. And at least 3 years working experience.
Have experience with communicating human rights and are passionate about promoting the rights of indigenous peoples
Are visionary, strategic and well structured. And a good coordinator and team player.
You will be part of a small communication and publication team, and is expected to work closely with the thematic advisors. You will refer directly to IWGIA’s Executive Director.
Working hours are 37 hours a week, including ½ an hour for lunch. Work location is Copenhagen. IWGIA follows the state’s salary levels.
