Public Debate about Multilateral Development Assistance

Multilateral development assistance has played a major role in development cooperation over the years, not least in helping to achieve many of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and it is fair to assume that it will also be needed to reach the new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which the global community adopted in New York in September 2015.

Nevertheless, in recent years financing for this type of support has been decreasing. Why is that? What are the pros and cons of multilateral development assistance? How can it be sustained in the future?

Former Ambassador, Peter Brückner, who at one point in his career was Head of the Danish multilateral support office in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and his daughter Ms. Camilla Brückner, Director of the Nordic Office of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), will discuss these and related issues at a public debate, which will take place at Aalborg University on Tuesday 4 October 2016 from 14:30 – 16:15.

The event, which will be conducted in English, is open to all.
