Seminar: Key Concepts and Approaches in Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding (København)

The Network for Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding is pleased to invite for the first event in the fall, a seminar on “Key Concepts and Approaches in Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding”. The event will be hosted by Oxfam IBIS and take place at Globalt Fokus on the 30th of August at 1 to 3.30pm.

The seminar seeks to create a common understanding of key concepts and approaches and provide a space for network members to reflect on how these are related and applied to the work of their own organizations.

Join us and help inspire the thinking and conversation around central concepts and processes!

Background

Upon entering office in January 2017, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres emphasized the importance of prioritizing prevention and advancing the implementation and momentum of the ‘Sustaining Peace’ resolutions passed by the Security Council and General Assembly in April 2016. This has marked a notable shift in how the UN understands and seeks to address peacebuilding in a comprehensive manner not previously seen. The policy debates that have surrounded the ‘sustaining peace’ agenda reflect the continuing evolution of how peacebuilding is both defined in policy and theoretical terms and, more importantly, how various actors seek to translate this understanding concretely at country level. In order take stock of these conceptual and practical developments, the Network for Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding will convene a seminar on ‘key concepts and approaches in conflict prevention and peacebuilding’.

Programme (TBC)

Part 2: Panel discussion on application of concepts in policy and programming
