Taking place in Egypt, the documentary follows the compelling stories of four women who share their struggle of determining their independence. The documentary weaves through their worlds as they tell us their stories of marriage, divorce, love and resistance.
Mirroring Egypt’s struggle for change and the constant clash created by social norms, the stories of the four women spark a discussion about how women are viewed and the pressuring expectations of being an Egyptian woman.
The director, Hanan Abdalla is a British-Egyptian freelance documentary filmmaker. Born in London in 1988, Hanan graduated from Oxford University in 2010, where she studied Politics & Philosophy. After university, she pursued short filmmaking courses at the National Film & Television School, the Frontline Club and the Documentary Filmmakers Group.
