Job: International Development and Project Management Internship



NCG is looking for an intern who is interested in pursuing a career in international development cooperation as well as gaining skills in project management.

ABOUT NCG

As an intern in Nordic Consulting Group (NCG), you will be part of an exciting international consultancy firm that carries out a broad range of consultancy assignments globally with regional focus on Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. Our services span across all sectors and themes related to international development, but NCG’s core competencies lie within:

  • Governance, state, and civil society
  • Human rights, equality, humanitarian-development nexus
  • Climate and environment
  • Private sector development and sustainable growth
  • Urban and rural development

NCG works with both international and national clients, including Danida, Sida, Norad, Swiss Development Cooperation, the EU, the World Bank, the UN agencies, and various national and international NGOs. 

THE TASKS

As an intern, you will work in the Secretariat, where you’ll work closely with our project managers, business development manager, finance manager, student assistants, and other interns. But you will also get to know and collaborate with our partners and network of external consultants.

Your tasks will be varying and include, but not be limited to: 

Project Management

  • Assistance in tender processes and proposal writing
  • Identification and research of relevant opportunities for our consultants
  • Support in the administrative and financial aspects of project management incl. budget preparations, cost deliberations, and invoicing

Business development

  • Conduct market and competitor analyses
  • Research and mapping of in-house key competencies
  • Support new initiatives, e.g sustainability strategy and crisis management planning

YOUR PROFILE

  • Passionate about international development and humanitarian work
  • Curious and quick learner
  • Can work independently and take initiative
  • Solid planning and coordination skills
  • Strong communication skills and excellent writing skills in English
  • Ability to understand Danish is an advantage
  • Enrolled at a Danish University, or other institutions of higher education within a relevant field, e.g., international relations; business and development studies; business, language and culture.

WE PROVIDE

We’re a small team working in the Secretariat, so you’ll be working in a young, energetic, social environment with a flat organisational structure. You’ll be given responsibility and ownership of tasks and play a pivotal role in the Secretariat’s daily operations. You’ll also be able to get:

HOW TO APPLY

The internship will be eligible for transfer of ETCS points at a relevant educational institution. The internship is a full-time position (37 hours/week) starting in August 2024 and finalising in January 2025. The internship is unpaid, but monthly compensation is offered.
