Job: Internship with Maternity Foundation



Become an intern within programme management, clinical development, communication, and/or fundraising.

Maternity Foundation is a global organization, offering digital solutions and learning and training programmes within the fields of maternal and newborn health. Through our Safe Delivery+ Programme, we use digital training- and learning tools to support and train healthcare professionals, and we have engagements in multiple countries across Sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East and North Africa, and Asia. Recently we have expanded into Latin America and the Caribbean. We work from a shared vision that it should not cost life to give life. 

We are currently looking for several interns to support our organisation. As an intern with Maternity Foundation, you will become part of the team and together we will define tasks that match our needs with your interests and skills. We are looking for interns interested in programme and data management, clinical development, communications, proposal writing, and fundraising.  

As a team member of Maternity Foundation, you will join our office in Copenhagen and have colleagues in Ethiopia and India. We come from diverse backgrounds – global health, midwifery, development studies, communication, IT, and business – and we take pride in our entrepreneurial spirit and can-do attitude. Together, we are an ambitious and dedicated team working in a warm and informal atmosphere.

 As an intern you can be tasked with: 

Programme , data and clinical management: 

  • Collecting and synthesising country information 
  • Reviewing literature in the field of public health and clinical learning
  • Supporting on grants management processes 
  • Supporting clinical content and training development 
  • Ad hoc tasks related to project implementation. 

Fundraising and communication tasks: 

  • Mapping fundraising opportunities 
  • Developing fundraising applications and status reports to donors 
  • Supporting events, creating awareness and raising funds for Maternity Foundation 
  • Developing content for social media 
  • Supporting press work and story telling 
  • Preparing presentations, doing layouts and other visual communication tasks.

Your qualifications 

Your field of study is related to public health, global health, global development, midwifery, data science, social sciences, health economics, communication, business, fundraising or the like. In addition, we expect the candidates applying for the internship to have some experience within research, writing, data analysis, communication, etc. This could either be from your field of study or from experience gained from previous employments. To apply for the internship, you must meet the following requirements: 

  • Have an interest in public health, sexual and reproductive health and rights, maternal newborn and child health, humanitarian & development work, adult learning, and/or communication, or fundraising/business development 
  • Have completed a minimum of two years of higher education 
  • Ideally, be enrolled in a university or undertaking higher level education  
  • Be fluent in spoken and written English; other language skills, such as Arabic, would be an asset.  

Terms and conditions
Please note that the internship is between 20 to 37 hours per week and unpaid. You must be able to begin the internship in August/September 2024 and commit to an internship of preferably six months. 

You will be working at our office in Copenhagen. Hybrid working is also an option. If you join us in Copenhagen, you must hold the right to undertake an internship in Denmark.
