IWGIA has embarked on a global initiative to ensure that indigenous peoples are not invisible in the global development agenda, writes til organization in a press release Friday. The Indigenous Navigator is a set of tools for and by indigenous peoples to systematically gather their own data and use it for multiple purposes. It is a community-based framework for monitoring and guiding indigenous peoples’ rights and development. As IWGIA "move forward the implementation of the initiative, with our partners Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP), the International Labour Organization (ILO), The Danish Institute for Human Rights, Forest Peoples Programme (FPP) and Tebtebba, we welcome the support of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues and the European Union". Disaggregated data is exactly what we need for making the SDGs work for indigenous peoples, states IWGIA, adding: We encourage you to dive into our web portal to get all the details on how this matrix links to the UNDRIP, ILO Convention No. 169 and other human rights conventions to an indicators framework. If you are interested in this data revolution, we kindly invite you to subscribe to the Navigator's Newsletter and forward it to those who may be interested, notes IWGIA. |
