Kenyas nyvalgte præsident, Uhuru Kenyatta, vil udpege en regering med under halvt så mange ministre, som i den forrige, hvor der sad 44 ministre.
Kenyas nye regeringsstruktur er på plads. Fremover skal regeringen bestå af 18 ministre i stedet for som hidtil 44.
Det er ikke et ukendt fænomen at regeringer i afrikanske lande har 30-40 ministre. Ofte uddeles der ministerposter for at tilfredsstille forskellige politiske, etniske eller religiøse grupperinger.
Udviklingen kan dog ikke som sådan tilskrives den nye præsident. I landets grundlov, der blev revideret og godkendt ved en folkeafstemning i 2010, kræver at præsidenten udnævner mellem 14 og 22 ministre, som skal afspejle landets etniske og regionale diversitet, som det hedder.
Men det faktum, at præsidenten kun vil have 18 ministre i sin regering ses i visse kredse som et lovende tegn på, at han vil forsøge at effektivisere Kenyas central-administration.
Ifølge avisen Daily Nation vil den kommende regering have følgende ministre:
- Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government.
- Ministry of Devolution and Planning.

- Foreign Affairs
- Education which will have the Department of Education and Department of Science and Technology
- The National Treasury
- Health
- Transport and Infrastructure which will have the Department of Transport Services and the Department of Infrastructure
- Environment, Water and Natural Resource
- Land, Housing and Urban Development
- Information, Communication and Technology (ICT)
- Sports, Culture and the Arts
- Labour, Social Security and Services
- Energy and Petroleum
- Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries under which are the Department of Agriculture, Department of Livestock and Department of Fisheries
- Industrialization and Enterprise Development
- Commerce and Tourism which has the Department of Commerce and Department of Tourism
- Mining
Præsident Kenyatta har endnu ikke offentliggjort navnene på de, der skal bestride posterne.
